Húsavík, Iceland – Sailing through the Northeast Iceland Hope Spot

Our journey begins in the whale town of Húsavík, our home port in Northeast Iceland. Here, we all gather, prepare the vessel, and set sail into the open Atlantic. The first days focuses on settling into life onboard, trimming sails and adapting to the rhythm of the ocean.

We will start the journey sailing through the Northeast Hope Spot. This remarkable region is recognized for its exceptional biodiversity and rich marine ecosystems. Even though it is not peak whale season, marine life is still frequently spotted at this time of year, and whales, dolphins, and seabirds often accompany us as we begin our voyage south.

Faroe Islands – Weather Permitting Stop – Cliffs, Seabirds, and Nordic Island Culture

If weather conditions allow, we make landfall in the Faroe Islands, a dramatic archipelago rising steeply from the sea. These Danish islands offer spectacular green landscapes, dramatic cliffs, deep fjords, and traditional villages with turf-roofed houses. It is an ideal place to stretch our legs, explore small harbors, and experience a unique North Atlantic culture shaped by fishing, sailing, and the powerful surrounding ocean.

The Hebrides – Island Hopping – Wild Atlantic Scotland

Continuing south, we reach the Outer Hebrides, an island chain along Scotland’s western edge. This stage of the voyage is perfect for island hopping, quiet anchorages, remote beaches, small Gaelic communities, and plenty of music and local culture. Days may include coastal sailing, exploring villages such as the charming capital Stornoway on the Isle of Lewis, mindful strolls through green landscapes, and experiencing the local island lifestyle.

Our sailing route may take us throughother beautiful places such as Portree, Oban, Tobermory until we reach the entrance of the Caledonian Canal.

The Caledonian Canal – An Historic Inland Waterway

If weather permits, we will venture from Scotland’s west coast to the entrance of Caledonian Canal, a legendary inland passage linking the Atlantic Ocean to the North Sea. Passing through a series of locks and lochs, including the famous Loch Ness, the canal offers a calm and scenic contrast to offshore sailing. Surrounded by Highland mountains, forests, and historic lock systems, this section is both relaxing and fascinating from a maritime perspective. Alternatively, if the weather is not in our favor, we will set sails towards the English Channel and into the North Sea Passage.

North Sea Passage – Into the Blue – Offshore Sailing

After exiting the canal on Scotland’s east coast, we return to offshore sailing across the North Sea. This leg offers the opportunity to continue practicing navigation, sail handling, and passage planning as a team. The rhythm of watch systems returns, and the crew truly settles into life as ocean sailors.
